This could be the worst website I've ever witnessed. What does this site do for the 'hobby' exactly? More confusing? Is this the way to grow? To throw away a perfectly functioning site that everyone knows and understands? The layout on this site is so messed up, you'd think a little kid with a Vic Commodore would to better. Gaaawd!

I feel sorry for all the teams that have to use this site for the upcoming events, I really do. And learn some english, dude…

lain.kap4, support with both hands.

The old website needed a bit of tune up, I'm on 2ManyFaces side on that one. Problem here is when making this new website they tried re-inventing the wheel and I don't like the results much.
It has some nice featured, but it's not easy to find them due to the complete lack of a useable navigation interface and that's really not acceptable. Also the old imported stats are severly messed up and a lot of stuff seems to be missing completely. Schedule and standings are both in russian only and for some very strange reason the default profile picture on the teamplay page for a player is Andrey Arshavin. Wtf?

It would have been a waaaay better idea to use the old website design as a template and trying to reincarnate it with a better foundation and add/remove some features along the way. Sorry to say, but this one it actually seems more like a social blog than a website dedicated to hosting video game tournaments.

Don't really understand the removal of the chatbox either if trying to build more of a social community. RIP Consolehockey & dear old chatbox

I wholeheartedly agree with Kooffein. The effort is more than appreciated, but when we end up with a site that is subpar, especially when compared to the old site, something's wrong.
MartindalexC
They need to get the shoutbox/ chatbox that crashthenet.ca uses…
billy44
The old website was baaad in my opinion, I will wait till the admin is done with his tutorial blogs to judge how good or bad the new website is. But yeah, the lack of chatbox is hurting big time…

I mean it's ok since there won't be EHL tournaments on Xbox and no one will visit the website anyway but still…
Kooffein
billy44, I doubt anyone will claim the old one was flawless. It did need an upgrade, but it did have fairly accessible navigation. Tutorials are never a bad thing to have available on a website, but the problem here is they are actually needed. To me, that's a big no no.
Make a few minor tweaks to the old websites navigation (getting rid of the top miniature menu and move those options to a slimmed down version of the main menu) and you could set up a team in 5 mins on the first visit without reading a single word of helpful advice.

return the website engine. a blog is for social networks to communicate. but not for tables, tournaments, statistics. Blog is the branch of the events that you can discuss and comment on. Therefore, it updates the news in chronological order.
for example: fishki.net/

Wow, you too serious and agressive, guys Let's look on your problems

1. Chat.
Actually we want chat, but that chat was bad, because bring some lags on page. We need Comet chat, it's cost 129 $. If somebody of you present it to us you will have chat here.

2. Bring new thing to old site…
Nobody of us don't understand code of old site, and main thing that we havent time and interess to try understand what's what.
Is there programmists among you to know how to do something on old site? Do you ready to spend money for hire progammists for it?
If you are programmists and you don't like and don't want to play here, well that happends what can i say, make your own site.

3. (to russian critics) at first speak english here. For russian language you have virtualsports.ru and old forum.
Actually its rules of decency to speak the language which everyone understands at least at public threads. Every team has own blog and nobody don't mind about national languages there.
Russian letters from site's engine will fixed in nearest time.

Resume:
Who will follow us — be patient, here are much things to solve and make better.
Who will not follow us — you have own head, own hands, excel, facebook, VK and so on… we won't hold you and wish good luck!

I did ask you before if the code for the old site was up for sale!

I do understand there are bugs and flaws that will be fixed in time but have you considered any tweaks to the navigation?

Regarding the $129 for the chat, I don't think it's impossible to get a good chunk of it from the community. Maybe try to set up a donation box for it? I for one would not mind at all to chip in if it's for the greater good for all of us.
lain.kap4
2ManyFaces,

Your post sums it all up, I believe. You want a new chat but you wont do anything about it until someone gives you money for it. Thats a tad retarded. You're deleting a site that was easy to understand when you dont even have the tools or the mindset to create a better one, and when people point this out, you answer them by saying that you dont even have a clue how to make one and that they should go make their own?.....really? The fact that people need TUTORIALS(!!!) to navigate the site is just…

All this just smells like someone wants to make his own mark on a community on the web, since he cant do it on the ice. Its harsh, I know, but when you come up with some legitimate reasons for doing this I'll use some nicer words.
tbnantti
Our intention is not to sound aggressive in the slightest. Like I said, and I'm sure the community agrees, we appreciate everything you guys do without pay. However, people were confused as to why the old site wouldn't cut it this year, and you provided us with the answer. Thank you.

I'm sure this new site can continue to grow and get better over time, and as people get accustomed to the change I think it will serve us just fine. People just don't want a step back in the wrong direction, that's all. If everything that is needed can be implemented on this new site, and the site is easier to maintain, well, I tip my hat to you.

People wanted to know why the site was redesigned, and I think you gave us the answer and everyone has to live with that. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Kooffein, lain.kap4, read «what's new» blog. It's about navigation. Site was opened fastly only because EHL starts soon and we need start it here. And opened now for give you time to habit while registration on way.
Tournament stucture at this engine much more comfortable, and it's not expectations it's experience. If you don't affraid russian language you can look it here vhta.virtualsports.ru/tournament/russian_championship_12_13/
This engine exists already three years and works much better.
Another important thing that it's our server, so you won't see 505 error during overload.

Try to comment, create topics. Closer to EHL we will have necessary things.
Kooffein
2ManyFaces,

I did read that. Problem with the navigation is that all focus is put on the social aspect and you have to take 3 extra steps to reach what most people come here for — the actual game. If you come here first time it's a very confusing view, and what should be the main features is «hidden».
It's very important for a site like this to make the main purpose of it the most accessible and currently from what I can tell it's not.
For example, on the old site if I wanted to check out stats from an old tournament I could access that from the main page. Here I need to find my profile, find the right tab and if I participated in that tournament I can find it from there. If I was not participating myself I have found no other way than to randomly click players that have posted comments until I find someone that was.
toomanyfaces
Kooffein, aah. It's not problem, during tournament you will see a lot info and quick access to team, stats, tables, schelude and so on. And before tournament we'll trying to add quick buttons for your team and for creation of a team
Kooffein
2ManyFaces,

Glad to hear. Then I will shut up for now, thank you!
Klaus
Kooffein, nobody say that we finish our work on this portal. We can close portal for a month and make all updates, but we must start tournaments.

Will be links to user playercards, edit profiles, edit team, and team pages. We try to create portal with tournaments with more statistic, own team and league pages with their own style. And where people will talk
Klaus

Create links to edit player cards, your team or create new team

Klaus, just give us your paypal account so we can arrange a donation for a chat box?! Some people can't live without it

I think a site map or something would be a welcome addition, on top of tutorial blogs.
Kooffein
x BUM3R x,
+1 on that one Bumer. Haven't spent a dime to participate in these tournaments so far so it's been a cheap hobby to have. The least one can do is to chip in a couple of dollars to an admin in need to get that fancy new chat.
cberntsson
Is there even gonna be an Xbox tournament? Seems like no one has Any clue about anything atm!

cberntsson, you should ask you TGMA  who is there? Basstian?
